چکیده

Euler Diagrams are an accessible means of representing non hierarchical set-based relationships which have recently been used in resource management interfaces to facilitate user categorisation. We develop a novel, extensible Euler diagram based interface, called FunEuler, which integrates the concepts of visual classification, spatial arrangements and functional application, thereby greatly extending the power of such Euler diagram based interfaces by enabling fast application of a collection of predefined functions to collections of categorised resources. To demonstrate the principle, we provide several functionalities such as file zipping or creating playlists within the application, whilst also providing a mechanism to extend the functionality to facilitate end user development. Preliminary user testing suggests that the Euler diagram concept is easily comprehensible for resource categorisation purposes, the concept and application of functions can be understood and applied successfully, and that users perceived the addition of functions increased the usefulness of the application for repetitive

Transonic Turbulent Flow Simulation using Pressure-Based Method and Normalized Variable Diagram

A pressure-based implicit procedure to solve the Euler and Navier-Stokes equations on a nonorthogonal mesh with collocated finite volume formulation is described. The boundedness criteria for this procedure are determined from Normalized Variable diagram (NVD) scheme. The procedure incorporates the ε−k eddy-viscosity turbulence model. The algorithm is tested for inviscid and turbulent transonic ...

Analysis of deep drawing process to predict the forming severity considering inverse finite element and extended strain-based forming limit diagram

An enhanced unfolding Inverse Finite Element Method (IFEM) has been used together with an extended strain-based forming limit diagram (EFLD) to develop a fast and reliable approach to predict the feasibility of the deep drawing process of a part and determining where the failure or defects can occur. In the developed unfolding IFEM, the meshed part is properly fold out on the flat sheet and tre...

Drawing Graphs in Euler Diagrams

We describe a method for drawing graph-enhanced Euler diagrams using a three stage method. The first stage is to lay out the underlying Euler diagram using a multicriteria optimizing system. The second stage is to find suitable locations for nodes in the zones of the Euler diagram using a force based method. The third stage is to minimize edge crossings and total edge length by swapping the loc...

A Tool for Generating Interactive Euler Diagrams

We describe a tool for generating Euler diagrams from a set of region connection calculus formulas. The generation is based on a variant of local search capturing default reasoning for improving aesthetic appearance of Euler diagrams. We also describe an optimization for diagrams to be interactive: the user can modify the diagram with the mouse while formulas are still satisfied. We also discus...

Conservativity for a hierarchy of Euler and Venn reasoning systems

This paper introduces a hierarchy of Euler and Venn diagrammatic reasoning systems in terms of their expressive powers in topological-relation-based formalization. At the bottom of the hierarchy is the Euler diagrammatic system introduced in Mineshima-Okada-Sato-Takemura [13, 12], which is expressive enough to characterize syllogistic reasoning in terms of unification and deletion rules. At the...
